About SEI

Summit Education Initiative (SEI) is the cradle-to-career backbone organization uniting Summit County, Ohio for cradle-to-career success. As a nonprofit backbone organization, we serve as a strategic connector and learning partner, aligning efforts and providing tools that support measurable improvement in educational outcomes.

We bring together schools, early learning centers, out-of-school-time providers, government agencies, businesses, higher education institutions, families and community organizations to ensure every child thrives from birth to career.

What we do

These networks unite high-impact partners across sectors to focus on key indicators like kindergarten readiness, third-grade reading proficiency and college and career readiness.

"SEI helps us see what's working and where we need to do better for every student."

- Summit County School Partner

Children and families in Summit County face complex, interconnected challenges: economic disparities, inconsistent access to quality education and gaps in support across transition points.

SEI exists because:

  • Equity matters: Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter their zip code, race, or income level.
  • Collective impact works: No single organization can address these challenges alone. Alignment and collaboration lead to measurable, lasting change.
  • Data drives results: Real-time data helps uncover root causes and guides effective solutions.
  • Youth & family voice matters: When students and families help shape systems, the solutions are stronger, more sustainable, and more just.
