Hi Friend, As we prepare for a new school year, it’s important to remember that success isn’t just about supplies — it’s about support. Helping children adjust well can set the tone for a positive and productive year. Encouraging consistent routines, such as regular bedtimes and homework time, gives kids a sense of stability. Taking a few minutes each day to talk about their experiences, listen to their concerns and celebrate their wins – big or small – can make a big difference. |

I wish our returning students a safe and learning-focused school year. I would also like to announce a change to the SEI leadership team. Cynthia Sommers has been promoted to the position of senior director of research and evaluation. Cynthia brings a refreshing perspective to our work and I look forward to her continued success. SEI + Project Rise: Supporting students in need |
SEI is proud to partner with Project Rise to help Akron Public Schools students who are experiencing housing instability. Each year, around 1,800 students face homelessness and this collaboration ensures they get the educational, cultural and community support they need to succeed. |

Kindergarten readiness program at B2K Summer Academy |
At Project GRAD’s B2K Summer Academy, we engaged families in meaningful conversations about preparing their children for kindergarten. Each family received free books along with “16 for Success” tip cards and curated booklists to encourage reading at home and smooth the transition to school. These resources empower parents to support early literacy and set their kids up for success from day one. |
