Derran Wimer,

Derran Wimer joined SEI as its Executive Director in September 2011. Previously he served 17 years as Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and HS Principal in the Berea City Schools. He also served as HS Principal in Twinsburg and Assistant Principal and teacher in the Copley Fairlawn City Schools. He is an adjunct instructor in educational leadership at Cleveland State University, a leadership training consultant with the Hay Group and a member of the National Speakers Association.

He has lived in Summit County for the past 33 years after relocating from Grove City, Pennsylvania where he was born and raised. Derran met his wife, Susan, as they both attended and graduated from Allegheny College in 1980. They both received their Master’s degrees in 1982 from Allegheny College. He continued his post graduate education at the University of Akron in Educational Leadership.

Susan, a former kindergarten teacher in East Cleveland and Hudson City Schools, is now the Director of Development and Stewardship for the First Congregational Church in the City of Hudson where they have lived for the past 20 years. They have two sons, Bradley who is a senior at HHS and Andrew who is a graduate of HHS and Kent State University and now lives and works in Chicago.

Derran has received several recognitions for his leadership. He received the 2011 Exemplary Leadership Award from the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, the Excellence in Leadership Award from Executive Educator, the “Friend of Speech” award from Ohio HS Speech and Debate, the “Friend of Education” award from the Berea Federation of Teachers, and he was recently selected as one of only 45 US civilian leaders to participate in the US Marine Corps Civilian Executive Training Program.

Derran serves as a deacon in his church and as a board member of Minds Matter of Greater Cleveland. Previously he served on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland, and the executive committees of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Alliance for High Quality Education, and the First Ring Superintendents Collaborative.

Kaye Rowe,
Operations Manager/Senior Accountant

Kaye joined our organization in the fall of 2009 and serves as SEI's Operations Manager / Senior Accountant. She is responsible for all of the day to day operations of the office, maintains the web site, and provides operational support to the staff with administrative responsibilities as well as technical computer assistance. In addition to her accounting duties, Kaye works with several of the Cradle to Career Alliance work groups.

Prior to being employed by SEI, Kaye was the controller for an automotive distributor in Cleveland for seven years. She has spent her accounting career in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors in the Akron/Cleveland area.

Kaye grew up in west Akron. She and her husband, David resides there. They have a daughter, Allison, who attends Miami University.
